1985年获武汉华中农业大学学士学位,1991年获北京农业大学(现中国农业大学)博士学位。1992-1993在中国科学院微生物研究所作博士后。1994年在荷兰Wageningen大学作访问学者。1995-1997年在英国剑桥大学作博士后。1998-2003年先后在美国尤他大学和Vanderbilt大学作博士后和访问学者。

先后获得美国FRAXA Research Foundation(2001-2002)和Vanderbilt大学Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development(2003)的研究奖。2004年中国科学院“百人计划”入选者,2005年国家杰出青年科学基金获得者。

张永清研究员的主要研究方向:利用传统的模式动物果蝇进行神经生物学的基础应用研究。由于果蝇的神经系统在分子和细胞水平上与哺乳动物的非常相似,这一研究将有助于我们对人类大脑结构和功能的认识。
