1998年于中国科学技术大学获得博士学位(师从视觉神经生物学寿天德教授)。1998年12月至2003年8月在日本国大阪大学医学院接受博士后训练,后于2003年9月至2005年9月在美国约翰霍普金斯大学医学院继续博士后研究。2005年10月起任日本国理化学研究所,脑科学综合研究中心研究员。2009年底作为中山大学“百人计划”引进人才受聘为中山医学院生理学教授。国外10余年的研究工作主要集中在分子和细胞水平上探讨视觉皮层功能发育可塑性发生的生理机制。
